What Is a Florida Roofing Contractor?
A Florida roofing contractor means a contractor whose services are unlimited in the roofing trade and who has the experience, knowledge, and skill to install, maintain, repair, alter, extend, or design — if not prohibited by law — and use materials and items used in the installation, maintenance, extension, and alteration of all kinds of roofing, waterproofing, and coating, except when coating is not represented to protect, repair, waterproof, stop leaks, or extend the life of the roof.
The scope of work of a roofing contractor also includes skylights and any related work, required roof-deck attachments, and any repair or replacement of wood roof sheathing or fascia as needed during roof repair or replacement, and any related work. It's a Certified license issued by the DBPR's Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB), meaning it's valid across the entire state, not just one city or county.

General Liability Insurance
Every Certified Roofing Contractor must carry general liability insurance before the DBPR will issue a license.
We work closely with our sister company, Artisan Insurance Inc., to provide these insurance needs. Both businesses are family owned and operated, so your license paperwork and your insurance move together instead of stalling on each other.
Renewing a Roofing Contractor License
Certified licenses renew every two years, due by August 31 of even-numbered years. Renewal requires 14 hours of continuing education, covering topics like workplace safety, workers' compensation, and business practices. At least 1 hour of that must be wind mitigation coursework.
