Education and On the Job Experience:
To qualify for the Florida Gas Line Contractor License, applicants must demonstrate both education and hands-on trade experience. You must provide proof of one of the following:
- 4 years of construction-related degree from an accredited college and 1 year of proven experience.
- 3 years of college-level credit plus 1 year as a foreman.
- 2 years of college-level credit, 1 year as a worker, and 1 year as a foreman.
- 1 year of college-level credit, 2 years as a worker, and 1 year as a foreman.
- 4 years of work experience, with at least 1 year as a foreman.
Construction Related Experience:
Applicants must also show direct experience with gas line construction. Qualifying work may include:
- Installing, maintaining, or repairing natural gas and propane piping systems.
- Assembling piping, valves, and fittings for gas distribution.
- Installing meters, regulators, and safety devices.
- Trenching, excavation, backfilling, and site restoration for underground gas lines.
- Testing systems for leaks, code compliance, and safety standards.
